From the obituary in the Halifax Herald, December 2, 1995. SAVAGE, Vivian Hewton - 85 -, Mersey Point, Liverpool, died November 24, 1995, at home. Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Theresa (smyth) Savage. Having worked for a bank and a brokerage firm in Toronto since 1926, his career with Burroughs Business Machines began in 1932 and in 1942 moved to Halifax from Windsor, Ontario to manage their Atlantic Provinces branch until a transfer in 1962 to Ottawa. In 1965 he moved back to Halifax and worked as a stockbroker with Gairdner and Company and later Walwyn Stodgell until retirement in 1992. Active in the militia of the Essex Scottish and the Queens Own Rifles, he was a PT instructor and weapons trainer during the Second World War in Southern Ontario. At this time he began his involvement with the Masonic Order at the Tuscan Lodge, London, Ontario and University Lodge, Halifax. He was an avid golfer and trout fisherman.
Vivian married Hazel Sainsbury.
