From newspaper notice. The appointment of Lt.-Col. Lorne A. Devine of Quebec to the command of the 7th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment has just been announced. Lt.-Col. Devine was formerly major and officer commanding of the 57th Battery, R.C.A. He went overseas in the early part of December 1939, and after some months of intensive training in England he was promoted to second in command of the First Anti-Tank Regiment. For some years he was connected with the Old Quebec Swimming and Athletic Club competing against Montreal's best swimmers.

Lorne married Hilda Myrtle Christina Sharpe, daughter of Harvey Walter Sharpe and Malvina Smith, on 9 Dec 1939 in Quebec City, Quebec.1 (Hilda Myrtle Christina Sharpe was born on 28 Oct 1904 in Hadlow, Levis, Quebec, died on 21 Feb 1986 in Gulfport, Florida, USA and was buried in Ottawa, Ontario - Pinecrest Cemetery 2.)
