Obituary from The Toronto Star (Dec 9, 1998) ============================= CHANT, Paul Franklin -- (Aged 73 years) Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 8, 1998, at Hillsdale Manor in Oshawa. Beloved husband of Joyce (Bowmanville) Treasured father of Marie Andrew (Peterborough), Pat Barber and her husband Robert (Oshawa); Betty Weldon and her husband Jeff (Burlington); E.P. (Ted) and his wife Phyllis (Amherstburg). Grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of four. Also survived by brothers Larry (Orono) and Gordon (Alberta), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary, and infant sister Barbara. Retired from Goodyear Canada (Bowmanville, Collingwood and Toronto). Paul was an avid curler and golfer and coach-manager in local minor baseball and hockey. He also served his community with distinction as a municipal councillor for the Town of Bowmanville for many years. He was a member of Bowmanville's Masonic Lodge since 1947. Visitation will be held at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 52 Division St. N., Bowmanville (905) 623-5668, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be held in the chapel 1 p.m. Thursday. Cremation. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Leukemia Research) or to a charity of choice.
