Newspaper obituary reads: FORSTER - Harriet Selina Chant was born at Stoke-under-Ham, Somerset, England, on February 14th, 1833 and departed this life in Huntsville, Ont., October 8th, 1914. Her parents, with their family of nine children, came to Canada in 1841, and resided for several years in what is now known as the village of Virgel, near Niagara, Ont. Harriet, when about 13, gave her heart to God, and united with the Methodist Church, of which she remained a faithful member for 68 years.
She was married in 1854 to John Forster, Jr., Markham who predeceased her in 1906. Of her eight children, four remain to mourn the death of one of the best of mothers: Sidney, Hamilton Ont.; Jos. Edward, Watsonville, Cal.; George and Ellen, Huntsville, Ont., also a sister, Mrs. Issac Parks, Pendleton, Ore., and two brothers, Mr. C.H. Chant, Unionville, Ont., and Rev. J.H. Chant, Webbwood, Ont. She has been a great sufferer the larger portion of her life, but has always retained her sweetness of spirit, and unfaltering trust in God. One more loved one in heaven. Notice in the October 15, 1914 issue of the Huntsville Forester reads: Mrs. Forster, mother of George Forster of The Gateau (?) Tailoring Co. and of Miss Ellen died early last Thursday morning aged 82 years. Deceased has been a resident of Huntsville for the past four years, moving from Markham. She was very highly esteemed as a Christian lady and leaves many friends. The funeral took place at Markham on Saturday at eleven o'clock am. Mr. & Miss Forster accompanied the remains.
